Wedding Photography FAQs for couples

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

Here’s a comprehensive list of wedding photography FAQs.

If there’s anything you have on your mind that is not listed here, or is not detailed enough, please feel free to get in touch!

1 ) How do you describe your style?

That’s a tough question to answer. Some of the popular “styles” associated with wedding photography are candid, documentary, photojournalistic, art wedding photography and other fancy words like these. I think what I do is a mixture of all of these styles – and depends on the moment and what I’m aiming to achieve. as i am an international documentary wedding photographer. there are precise moments of my life that i’d give anything to have a picture of. To me, photography is a way to remember. it’s not about the posed or contrived; but the stories inside the image. i believe everyone has a story and i am passionate about preserving that.My style and approach enables me to document a wedding like a story as it unfolds throughout the day.

2) What equipment do you have?

In short, I use whatever it takes to get you stunning photos. we have a long list of equipment I shoot weddings with, and this includes top of the line Sony camera full-frame bodies and prime lenses like carl zeiss all forms of off-camera lighting, remote lighting equipment, props, stands, tripods, monopods…all of which is updated and changed constantly but after this long list all above the equipments the main thing is that who used it and how he used it. as if you can buy tabla but can’t play like the great Zakir hussain!!

3) Do you offer wedding video or cinematography services? I’d like a wedding cinematic video — and I’d like everything to be done under one roof.

Absolutely! Wedding cinema has evolved a lot over the last few years. We will develop a beautiful thematic documentary style wedding video which will perfectly complement your wedding album. Typical deliverables include a wedding trailer (5-6 mins), and a full 60-80 minute wedding movie — all in brilliant high definition blu-ray video.

4) Do i need two or more photographers & cinematographers for my wedding?

We have several collections to choose from; some of which include two photographer which is ideal for larger weddings. as we have our own team who turn your wedding memory last longer. as most of the wedding we done are multi camera work, includes traditional and candid photographer as well cinematographer. additionally, we have collections without a second photographer which may suit some of the smaller more intimate weddings. please inquire for a complete collection options.

5) What do you require to proceed? or How much you charge for weddings?

All our packages are custom-built, basis the time and effort involved. Our basic wedding photography & cinematography packages start from INR 1,50,000 onwards for a day. To check availability and to enquire about shooting your wedding, please simply complete the contact form with some information about yourself and the wedding (the more the better). i’ll respond with our availability and chat a bit more about your hopes for your wedding photography. While we’re estimating your wedding package, we’ll try and gauge how many guests you’re expecting – and recommend a photo and video team accordingly. if you decide you’d like to move forward a contract and retainer is required to reserve your date. dates are not held without a signed contract and deposit.

6) My wedding spans three days, of which the first and second day don’t involve full day work. Why are you charging me for three full days?

This is a standard question, and it’s a valid one. There are two parts here:

  • The first is that I will be booking my full day to be available for you, and therefore lose out on other potential assignments I could have shot that day.

  • The second, and more important one is that in my experience duringIndian weddings, things average out. Your wedding day may (and most probably will) involve shooting overtime, as Indian weddings aren’t known to get over without a song and a dance! I won’t be charging you for working extra if your wedding needs it, so at the end of the day, things really do average out.

7) Are your wedding packages negotiable? I can’t afford what you charge!

I truly understand how expensive it is to get married. There are a million things you need to pay for, and some of them are more challenging than others. However, premium wedding photography also comes at a price – and I can’t even begin to start justifying the effort it takes to deliver quality photos like the ones you see on this website.

8) I am getting married next year, why do I need to book you so early?

Wedding photography, like everything else associated with a wedding like the venue, the decorator, the planner and the caterer – is a commodity that gets booked months and years in advance. There are clients who have an eye on a certain photographer, and just KNOW that nobody else will do. Booking your dates as early as possible guarantees that you won’t face any later heartburn and will be another item ticked off your wedding checklist!

9) Should i need group photos in my wedding or will you do posed family photos?

of course! recently i visit my new neighbour’s house, she took me around her home showing me (and bragging) about every family photo she had on her walls. the pride and tremendous love she had for her family was so profound, she could not speak of them without her eyes welling with tears. in that moment, it became so incredibly clear just how important these images are now and especially so, later in life. we will collect a list of your requested group photos 45 days before the wedding. we work efficiently to ensure you and your family will be on your way to the reception quickly.

10) Where are you based? Are you open to travel for my wedding? and do you charge extra for that?

indeed. i am based in Ahmedabad, gujarat. i am fortunate to have documented weddings all over the world, including Switzerland, china, japan, Singapore and of course throughout the united states. our fees for destination weddings are very simple. package price + travel + accommodations. please get in touch to talk more about these options.

11) We’re not models, We don’t know how to look for the camera?

Not to worry, neither is 99.9% of the couples we photograph. the good news is that i’m here to help. i will give you an abundance of very specific direction. you won’t be left feeling awkward, in fact, you’ll likely feel as though you are a model after-all!

12) Should i send you a shot list which type of photos i like?

Over the past 35+ years, we have photographed thousands of weddings. over time, i’ve developed a very thorough understanding of what images are essential. we’ll be sure to document all the big moments, the little ones, the details, and everything in between. you can rest assured we will document everything you expect to see and even what you don’t.

13) What is your turn-around time? or How long will it take for you to deliver our wedding photos?

As we have to lots of editing and VFX work on your photos and video, it may took around 2 to 3 months to complete the editing process of your complete collection of images as well as videos.i will however be sending you a small preview a few weeks after the wedding. you can also expect at least some images to be shared on our Facebook page just a few days after the wedding!

14) Who owns the usage rights to my wedding images? What is a personal rights release, and who owns the copyright?

Along with the assignment, you own the full usage rights to your wedding photos for non-commercial use. Legal jargon aside, that means you can do whatever you want with your wedding photos (like making more albums, taking prints, sending them out to relatives, sharing them online and what have you). The only thing you cannot do is resell your wedding images – which I am sure you will not want to do! As the photographer, I will own the ‘copyright’ to the photographs, which means I own the author rights to the photograph.

15) Will you be using the final wedding photos in your portfolio and on your social media channels? What if we do not want that?

I may! If your wedding results in terrific wedding photos (and I am sure it will!), I would love to share those pictures on my personal portfolio website and social channels as examples of great work I’ve done, so that other couples may also be inspired from your wedding. Should you specifically NOT want me to disclose your wedding photos on my personal channels, let me know before hand. There is no official policy on how to approach these situations, and there may be a middle ground we can work out.

16) What about wedding albums? Do you provide those?

Yes! As a final presentation of the work I will provide you, it’s important to me that it’s showcased well. I have spent a lot of time evaluating album vendors in India, and am pleased to let you know that based on my experience, I’ve shortlisted the vendors I work with to a very small list. Albums are serious business, and available to you are the very best albums that are made in India – and for the discerning bride, albums that are hand-made and imported from Italy.
